"I was at 54ms baseline when I started. After 30 days running 7.83Hz and 10Hz alpha three times a week I measured 76ms. My Whoop recovery score moved from orange to green on the same weeks."
"I was logging 20-25 minutes to fall asleep in Oura. After two weeks of the 2Hz delta session as a pre-sleep routine I was under 10 minutes consistently. The delta session is the only sleep thing that has actually worked."
"I came in skeptical. I tried Calm for a year with no measurable change. On day five I had an 11ms HRV improvement after a single 7.83Hz session. I don't know if I believe in the mechanism yet but I can't argue with the number."

All plans start with a 7-day free trial. But if you know you're committing, here's how to think about which tier makes sense for you.
Still unsure? Start the free trial. You get all features, full library access, and Apple Watch HRV tracking for 7 days. Your HRV data from the trial carries over into any paid plan you choose.

The table above shows price. It does not show what your money actually produced. The average Calm or Headspace user in 2025 opened the app 4.2 times in the first 30 days, then stopped. At $14.99/mo, most subscribers are paying roughly $3.57 per actual session used, for content they cannot prove worked.
The honest math: if you are already paying $14.99/mo for Calm or Headspace, switching to Mortis Basic ($15/mo flat) is a wash on price and a major upgrade on measurement. If you commit to the Pro tier and run the twice-daily protocol consistently, you can bring your effective cost to $0 while the product builds a personal matrix from your data. The session itself is free on the web app with no account required. You do not have to take our word for any of this.
Most people overthink this. Here is the decision tree that gets you to the right answer in under 60 seconds.
Go annual or lifetime. The monthly rate is for exploration. If you already know you want the practice, the annual saves $60 versus monthly and locks the founding member price permanently.
Start monthly. The session on the web app is free with no account required. If after 30 days your HRV data shows a positive delta, switch to annual before the founding member window closes.
Any plan. You will get the full feedback loop: pre-session HRV, post-session delta, 30-day baseline chart. This is where the product delivers its strongest value. The matrix personalizes from your first session.
Start monthly or free. Without HRV tracking you still get the 132-frequency library and voice intake, but the personalization is less precise. If you add a Series 4 or later watch within 30 days, the matrix retroactively incorporates your session history.
Founding members who sign up on April 18 get the badge permanently. Pricing is the same for everyone ($20/mo, free for the first 3 months if you practice twice a day and log pre/post, or $1,000 lifetime). The founding designation is not a discount. It is a permanent marker for users who showed up on day one.
The math is simple: $144/yr Annual Basic vs $180/yr if you stay on monthly Basic. $192/yr Annual Pro vs $240/yr if you stay on monthly Pro (before rebate). 20% savings either way. The more important case is not financial. It is behavioral.
Every 30 days you implicitly re-decide whether to keep the subscription. For a practice that produces its most measurable results between days 45 and 90, this is a structural problem. The HRV trend that pays off at day 60 requires you to not cancel at day 30 based on incomplete data.
This is not a trick - it is a real behavioral dynamic. Monthly subscription products lose 60-70% of users in the first 90 days. Annual subscription products lose 20-30%. The retention difference is not product quality. It is decision frequency.
When you are not re-deciding monthly, you are more likely to push through the calibration phase (days 1-30) into the pattern-emergence phase (days 30-60) where the personal matrix becomes genuinely useful. Beta cohort data shows that annual subscribers who reached day 60 had an 84% probability of completing day 90.
At $12/month effective on Annual Basic (or a fully-rebated $0 on Annual Pro), the cost of the annual plan relative to the outcome is very different from the monthly rates. The number you see in your credit card statement every month changes the psychological commitment.
If you are genuinely undecided and want to test one session before committing: start monthly. If you have read this page, looked at the evidence, and are prepared to give it 60 days: start annual. The 20% discount at 365 days makes more sense for a practice than the monthly rate for a tool you are evaluating month-to-month. The practice framing is the correct one.
Gift a 12-month Mortis subscription. They get the same founding-member access, pricing lock, and the full 132-frequency library. No commitment on their end - if it doesn't move their HRV, they stop.

Most apps are vague about this. We are not.
Cancel any time. No penalty. No "are you sure?" wall. Your next billing cycle is the last one.
Founding member pricing is locked for the life of your subscription. If you cancel and resubscribe, you requalify at the new rate only if the founding window is still open.
We do not hold your biometric data hostage. Export everything before you cancel. GDPR-compliant delete is available on request.
Mortis is not the right tool for everyone. Here is where we would tell you to save your money or wait.
The HRV baseline takes 5 sessions to establish. Meaningful trend data requires 2-4 weeks of consistent practice. If you need results in one week, this is not the product. The protocol requires patience and consistency. If that is not your situation, wait until it is.
If what you want is a library of sleep stories, guided visualizations, and mood music, Calm is a better fit. Mortis is built for people who want to know whether the practice worked, measured in RMSSD, not whether it felt good. The product is sparse and functional, not rich and ambient.
You can use Mortis without an Apple Watch, but you lose the measurement layer that differentiates the product from everything else. The frequency sessions work without a wearable. The HRV trend tracking, the before-and-after delta, and the protocol personalization do not. If measurement is not part of the deal, the $15/mo Basic is probably not justified.
Mortis is a stress resilience and performance tool, not a clinical intervention. If you are in treatment for anxiety, depression, PTSD, or another clinical condition, speak with your provider before starting. The frequency protocols do not replace clinical treatment. We make no clinical claims, and this product is explicitly not a substitute for professional mental health care.
Rhythmic auditory stimulation at certain frequencies can be a risk factor for photosensitive or audiogenic seizures in individuals with diagnosed seizure disorders. Mortis has no published adverse event data in this population because we have not studied it. If you have epilepsy or a seizure disorder, consult a neurologist before using binaural beat entrainment. This is a genuine contraindication, not a legal disclaimer.
Some people with tinnitus report that sustained binaural beat listening (particularly in the high-frequency beta and gamma range) temporarily worsens their symptoms. We do not have controlled data on this. If you have tinnitus, start with one short session (5-10 minutes at low volume in the alpha or theta range) and evaluate before committing to regular practice. The effect, if it occurs, is reported to be temporary, but we cannot guarantee this across all individuals.
The waitlist gets access 2 hours before public launch. Pricing is the same for everyone: $20/mo, free for the first 3 months if you practice twice a day and log pre/post, or $1,000 lifetime. The founding member badge is the only thing time-gated. Sign up on April 18 and you get the designation permanently; the pricing itself does not change after April 21.
After April 21, new sign-ups no longer qualify for the founding member badge. Pricing does not change. The 72-hour window is exclusively about the permanent founding designation on your account, not about locking in a discount. The rebate mechanic on the Pro tier works the same way on day 1 and day 365.
By day 30, practitioners with consistent Apple Watch data see a trend line in their personal matrix. The average HRV delta improvement across beta cohort at day 30 was +8-15% above day-one baseline. Your frequency preference pattern also becomes clear by session 15.
The founding-member badge on the community leaderboard is permanent and marks you as part of cohort zero. The price lock on your plan stays forever. These are the only two permanent distinctions. No other perks are planned, because we don't want to build a loyalty program, we want to build a tool that works.
No purchase required to join. One launch email on April 18. Founding pricing window starts at 10am EST.
The full Mortis experience requires specific hardware. Here is exactly what matters, what is genuinely optional, and what will limit your results if you skip it.
Required for HRV measurement. Mortis reads RMSSD from Apple Health. Without this, you can use the app but cannot access the personal matrix, protocol personalization, or community leaderboard. The product is significantly reduced without Apple Watch data.
Required for binaural beat delivery. The left and right channels must be separated for the brain to create the binaural beat. Mono speakers do not work. ANC should be off during sessions (it can phase-cancel the binaural beat at low frequencies). Wired or wireless both work.
Required. Mortis is an iOS app. Android is not currently supported. The iOS version is required to access Apple Health for HRV data and to run the voice intake via the Claude API integration.
Required for the session to work as designed. Binaural entrainment is disrupted by ambient conversation, high-noise environments, and multitasking. A dedicated 20 minutes in a low-stimulation environment is the environmental minimum. Many users run sessions first thing in the morning before the household activates.
Optional but significantly improves the morning protocol. When the Watch logs overnight HRV, Mortis can display your resting RMSSD before you get out of bed. This is the cleanest baseline read. Without sleep tracking, morning readings are taken manually after 5 minutes of rest.
Optional. Standard AirPods produce full binaural effect if ANC is off. Over-ear open-back headphones (Sennheiser HD 6XX, Beyerdynamic DT770) produce slightly more distinct channel separation at low frequencies (delta, theta). The difference is real but not dramatic. Start with what you have.
All 132 frequencies, 150 breathwork techniques, and 100 postures are available immediately. No drip content, no level gates. You have the full matrix on day one. The voice intake starts building your personal protocol from session one.
After five sessions at consistent times of day, the app has enough morning RMSSD readings to establish your baseline. The recommendation engine stops using community defaults and starts using your data. This is when protocol personalization activates.
Two weeks of consistent sessions is enough to show a directional HRV trend. Not statistically significant yet, but enough to tell whether you are moving up, flat, or down. The personal matrix page will show your 14-day rolling average against your initial baseline.
By day 30 you know which frequency moves your HRV, what time of day your sessions are most effective, and which breathwork pairing produces the largest delta. Beta cohort median at day 30: +14ms RMSSD vs baseline, 6 sessions per week, 19 min average duration.
This timeline is the same regardless of whether you are on monthly, annual, or lifetime. The only thing the plan type changes is what happens at day 31 and beyond. On Basic Monthly, that is a $15 charge. On Pro Monthly, that is the compliance-rebated amount. On annual, you are already paid through day 365. On lifetime, there is no day 31 consideration at all.

Most meditation subscribers stop opening the app by month three. Mortis is structurally designed to stay useful for the full year because the personal matrix keeps generating new information. Here is what actually shows up on your personal page at each milestone.
The matrix has enough sessions per band to rank them for you specifically. Your starting band may or may not still be the top performer. The app will surface a "consider trying X instead" suggestion with the personal effect-size data behind it. This is the first moment the recommendation is built from your data, not from population priors.
After 90 days of sessions across different times of day, the matrix identifies your personal peak session window. Some users show a clear morning advantage; others are post-workout responders; a few are late-evening dominant. The recommendation engine starts scheduling around this instead of using generic morning defaults.
By month 5 you have HRV data through enough calendar variation to see patterns most people never see. Does your RMSSD drop in the winter? Does it spike after daylight savings changes? Does travel week have a specific signature? The matrix shows all of this and the recommendation adjusts accordingly.
You have run enough sessions with different breathwork pairings to know which combinations produce the largest delta for you. Coherent breathing with alpha is not the same protocol as box breathing with alpha. The matrix now shows you your personal top protocol, including the breath pattern, not just the frequency.
After enough data, the matrix can flag the specific life situations where Mortis does not produce a benefit for you. Back-to-back travel weeks. Sleep-debt weeks. Weeks with alcohol above a threshold. You find out, with data, when the tool is worth using and when it is not. Most users appreciate this more than the sessions themselves.
At the one-year mark, the matrix can compare this month to the same month last year, in your own data. RMSSD trajectory, session density, protocol mix, life-event overlays. Most meditation apps have nothing at this time scale because they stopped collecting relevant data after month one. This is the payoff for having run the measurement loop from day one.
The reason the annual plan makes sense over the monthly for most users: each of the six milestones above unlocks something the app could not show you before that many sessions had accumulated. If you cancel at month three, you miss every one of them except the first. The product is built to deepen over the year. The pricing reflects that.
